Kattenhof was founded before 1751. Founded by Amtmann Neuenhertz. Based on the order to colonise the region by king Friedrich II ("the old Fritz").
The colony was first named "Schäferei auf dem Brande", und was started with 4 families. It was later renamed to a friend of king Friedrich in "Kattenhof".

In 1754 there was a study about the actual development in the new colonys. the names of the first colonists in Kattenhof were:

1. from Poland Michael Kayse
2. from Mecklenburg Ephraim Wendland
3. Einländer Christ. Weege
4. Einländer Siegfried Wellnitz
altogether 4 farms with approx. 20-30 persons.

Impressions:
Kattenhof is based at the route112 from Gollnow to Stepenitz. Many of the old houses and farms still exist, some are in a good shape, but the village definetely doesn't look like befroe the war. I didn't see any shops, there is no church, and the old cemetary in the forest at the western edge disappeared. I spoke to some of the polish inhabitants and they were kind and spoke some german.
