Eindrücke:
Helgenfeld was another highlight on my trip, because my parents
both spent the last years of their childhood here before end of
WW2. My both grandfathers bought small houses in this new colony.
The short distance to Gollnow, where my grandfather had a job,
was and is still a big advantage. Therefore is Helgenfeld the
only "village" on my trip, which has much more
inhabitants these days then before the war. in the 1980's many
new houses were build at the south edge, near the forest, and in
the last years many more at west edge, direction Gollnow. The new
houses are modern ones with mainly western standard. But even in
the "old" part of Helgenfeld, many houses are beeing
enhanced or repaired. My impression is, that meanwhile the second
or third generation of polish people live here, who see a
long-term perspective.
There is a new church (catholic) at the former western edge and a
new school. And a small supermarket too.
The train-line from Gollnow to Massow doesn't exist anymore, so
the train-station "Kupferhammer" at the main street.
I took some pictures of houses, where before WW2 families lived
with names, which i have among my ancestors (Zühlke, Kind,
Knuth, etc.). I didn't always asked, because i was short of time.
I hope the actual owners are not angry.
