Basenthin wis first mentioned in the Municipality encyclopedia in year1498, but probably exists much longer. On the Schloßberg, probably a "wendische" castle, old graves from the stoneage were found. 1334 Basenthin was owned by castle Quarkenburg. The later owners "von Flemming" first appeared 1595 an 1598 the village was owned by Egidius von Flemming; after him put in parts, 1787 reunited again, and stayed within the family until 1945. Church St.Georg and St.Nikolaus on the cemetary in the center of the village already 1595 as a several times restored buielding described. The main part of the church of big bricks probably "spätgotisch". 1670 added a wooden Church-tower; 1905 replaced by a massive onet.

unfortunately i didn't take some pictures, because the batteries were low..
Eindrücke:
Basenthin consists as many of these villages only of one broad road, you see the old "Gut Basenthin" on the left hand if you arrive from Gollnow from the south, but it looks in a bad shape now. The village itself consits of single houses left/right the road in average shape. The church is made of massive stones (now catholic, of course) and is in a very good shape. It seems that Basenthin has and had no own cemetery.
